Mature medical examination

Description:In the early years of the Medicine programme at RCSI, you will receive a solid foundation in the sciences and study the normal functioning of a healthy body. These clinical skills will be put into practice in your senior years, when you will be based in an RCSI-affiliated hospital, completing six-week discipline-specific clinical rotations over a two-year period. While on rotation, you will learn from highly-skilled specialists working in a range of different healthcare settings. You will also have many opportunities to start building your career during your studies via undergraduate research opportunities; overseas clinical electives in prestigious institutions, such as Johns Hopkins University in the US and McMaster University and the University of Toronto in Canada; and a four-week sub-internship programme in your final year in which you will work as a resident-in-training in a hospital in Ireland, the US or Canada. Early patient contact You will learn clinical skills, such as how to take a complete patient history and analyse symptoms, from your first week in the programme.
